It is also the busiest port in South Africa. The original name of Durban was Port Natal and was founded by British people. Durban’s population mostly consists of Indians, who came into the country way back with the British to help them grow the sugar cane crop. The most common languages that are spoken in Durban are English and Zulu.

There are many ways to get to Durban city. The most convenient of all is by air. King Shaka Airport is newly constructed airport in the city that has replaced the Durban Airport. It is 40 kilometers north of Durban City. Taxi service is available at the airport to take you to the main city or for sight-seeing as well. Apart from this a shuttle bus service also goes to the city every hour and is very cheap and affordable as well. Other ways to get to Durban is by Bus, by train and via cruise.
